Jog on the track 2
So after a whole week of not jogging first due to making up sleep and not being able to get up in the morning. Then thanks to a mosquito bite gone wrong. I was able to make it to the track today again and it was colder out. Hey well if I am going to be running on Dec 31st at midnight I better get use to the cold. I do need to get better gear though so i'll have to do some shopping for that.
I ran 4 miles again struggled at first but did almost every mile at about 10:30-10:45. I actually managed to do 1 miles in under 10 mins. It was very windy and I think that motivated me to push myself through it. I just want to be able to jog the 4 miles straight...I have a little over a month and I really hope to be able to do it. I need to get myself up and running my usual 2-3 miles every morning and maybe in 2 weeks I can see 4 miles in one shot...hmmm I hope so. I hope my vacation doesn't throw me too off track.
Well I hope to do go....lets see how it goes.

Jog on the track
So it is a beautiful day out...it's November so we won't be having many of these kind of days. With a little of external motivation I got myself dressed and drove to my local college track. It was relatively empty and so there was no pressure on going fast or traffic to slow you down. It was nice.
I ran 4 miles and walked a total of 1 mile. The best timing for a mile was 10:32:09 not bad. My prior mile I had jogged in 10:45 so I was able to shave off over 10 secs...nice! Okay not a BIG deal but it's big for me. My goal is to be able to run the 4 miles consecutively. I jogged 2 miles, walked 1 lap, ran another mile, walked 1 lap, ran the last mile and walked .5 mile. The last mile I jogged felt great! My first 2 I was struggling but I guess that was because my body was warming up. Feel great!
Now I just need to eat right! I feel like I'm getting heavier and eating more. Need to adapt my eating style to my new appetite.
California in 9 days...lets see if I can decrease at least 1 lb.

Day 37
Ran well today. Burned 311 calories running 2.75 miles in 34 minutes.
I started at 4.0 then went up .5 each 5 mins. I ran as fast as 6.0 then back down to 5.5, 5.0, 4.5 and cool down.
I feel good about myself. I have fit into clothes that were put aside because I no longer fit into them a year or 2 ago. I might have been able to squeeze into them at some point in the past but I didn't have to do as much squeezing into them this time. Yay!
Friday after talking to my friend I felt proud about being able to keep off the weight. It is the hardest thing to do and seems like not many are capable of doing so. I weighed in sometime this weekend and I came in at less than 135, 134.6 I think. Maybe not a big deal but for someone who has been stuck between 135-137, it was nice to see a number less than 135.
I'm doing good and I hope to up my exercise. Now that I am seeing a change maybe I'll have more motivation to keep going. I would love to be back into a size 6.

Day 32
So it took me a whole week to get back into the gym thanks to a cold bug. My throat was bugging me and the stress at work didn't help. The sad part is that I almost busted my ass on a new machine. You figure that would have happened on an old piece of crap machine...but now it happens on a new one.
I burned 297 cals running 2.58 miles for 33 minutes.

Day 31
So I didn't run but I did exercise on the Elliptical while they put in new treadmills at the gym! Yay! I'm so excited about that. Here is what I did I burned 609 calories for 5.64 miles for a total of 55 minutes.

Day 30
Woke up and went to the gym...wasn't feeling so hot but I pushed myself and even made it into work. Ugh!
Today I burned 318 running 2.7 miles in 34 minutes.
Am really feeling much better about my running. Hopefully by the end of this month I can run consistently at 5.0 even 5.5.

Day 29
Started with 13.5 miles on elliptical. Funny how I really didn't want to start running and was hoping to maybe just maybe get on an elliptical machine and sure enough i was lucky enough to do so. Unfortunately it was not the best machine but it did the job. Was on it for about 15 mins.
Afterwards I ran and it felt good. I started at 5.0 and even did interval of 5.5. I am pushing myself. On the treadmill, I burned 273 calories running 2.28 miles in 28 Minutes.
At the end of the week, I didn't run every day for at least 30 mins as i hoped but then again I am doing my salsa styling class and tango now so my body definitely needs to get use to that.
I also did some lunges when I was stretching and my legs are still hurting today Monday 7/12. I need to do it more often.

Did slightly better. Did intervals at 5.0 just to get myself use to it again. For the last 10 mins I did 2 mins at 5.0 and 1 at 4.5.

Day 27
Made it to the gym this morning eventhough I did try to talk myself out of it. I jogged very slowly but at least I did get up and I ran. Again my goal this week is to get up every day and do a light run in the morning. I have to keep pushing forward. Luckily I have a set of vitamins at my job so i was able to take my multivitamin but i completely forgot my folic and b-complex. I'll have to take them with din din.
I am happy because I made oatmeal and made a hard boiled egg and so far i've eaten both. I had my oatmeal with banana and raisins. I had my snack, hard boiled egg with 5 crackers and a 2% milk cracker barrel cheese. My tummy is rumbling...think that something may not be right but so far am okay so not sure... I'm just glad I feel good and light. I actually felt full when eating the egg and crackers. :)
So today I burned 248 Calories running/walking 2.21 miles in 31 minutes. I ran 5.0 for about 4 mins but otherwise walked 10 mins at 4.0 then ran at 4.5 and ended it at 5.0. I will keep this up this week and next week i can hopefully push myself. :)

battle with portions
So I eat very healthy but i just eat too much. I do over-indulge. I need to put myself in check. I need to not skip meals and I need to eat small meals. I am going to aim to eat oatmeal and hard-boiled eggs and cheese and greens every day along with loads of water. I do not want to over eat this week at all. Food is fuel!!!!

Day 26 and week's goal
I swore I was ready to run a marathon...and after 10 minutes my heavy breakfast snuck up on me completely messing up my flow. :( I stuck it out by walking and then I ran very slowly. I was able to stay on the treadmill for 4.5 miles and 1 hour...not too bad.

Day 25
burned 276 caloreis walking/jogging 2.47 miles in 34 mins.
I will slowly build up back to where I once was. It's frustrating but I have to really be patient with myself. My dr's appt is on Saturday and so we'll find out what is going on.
For this week I just want to run 3 times. So far i've put in 2 runs, and Sat will be my 3rd. I will try to run outside.

Day 24: Running again...at least attempting to
So i was energetic enough to run but not to run very fast. I only went as high as 4.5 mph. Pretty pathetic but I'm going to get myself up and going.

Another lazy day
So after my jog/walk on Saturday I ended up with a terrible headache that didn't go away fully until last night. I was feeling weak and fatigued and my head all achy. During brunch I took a shot of Geritol and some tylenol and it helped. Geez do i really need to do all that to feel better??
I hate to say it but I hope the dr finds something wrong with me because I just cannot take feeling as crappy as I have been feeling. I am going to get home today and eat small amount of meat but loads of greens!
Unfortunately today I mostly ate cashews. I had a good breakfast...1/2 cup of oj at home. Then a yogurt, banana, blueberries and all bran buds. Then coffee. I attempted to eat my lunch leftovers but total yuck. I had hibachi seafood and i picked through most of it and just couldn't finish it. I just ate more cashews...bad bad...I didn't even drink enough water...I will have to make up for it throughout the rest of the day.
I didn't get up to jog today but lets see if i can get myself to the track today or i will just wait until tomorrow morning to run.
I want to get back into this and not have excuses as to why i can't run anymore. ugh!!!!

Day 23 bayside marina
so a week and 2 days later I finally head out for a jog. I jogged then walked then jogged and walked...you get the point. It was warm and I lack energy...what is wrong with me???? I may need to see a doctor to make sure everything is ok...I would say I jog/walked a total of 4 miles in about 45 mins.
Okay off to do errands. I need to figure out how to motivate and keep motivated. :(

Yesterday and Today
So yesterday I ran in the morning. I took it easy. I went for a walk during lunch and after work I went to jog in Central Park with a coworker and the Team in Training crew. Woah lots of exercise! I didn't go today as I didn't want to push it. I will run tomorrow morning and take it easy again and then will prepare for THE run tomorrow. A bit nervous but I'm sure it will be okay.
i was pleasantly surprised that I was able to run as I did yesterday. I really had no idea of my capability until yesterday since I do most of my running on the treadmill. I did run outside at the beginning but was not successful at being consistant.
Well once I got home I had leftovers. BBQ chix with brown rice and a yummy salad (baby spinach, onions, goat cheese, red onions, craisins, walnuts, tomato, balsamic and olive oil).
This morning i had a bowl of cereal with half a banana. then i got to work had a coffee and 5 crackers with strawberry jelly. Lunch was salad with a red wine vinigar dressing, mushrooms, olives, red peppers and small pepperoni pizza and then the cheese of a tomato pizza. I had 2 macadamia nut cookies and about 1.5 cup of coke...bad bad! oh well I'll have a light din din. OH and I forgot i had about a cup of lucky charms dry. :)
No workout or walk today because of yesterday's run and work. But I may see about getting some type of walk in tonight or stretch or something. I have to prepare for tomorrow. Nervous and excited!

This morning I had a medium-large banana;
bowl of honey bunches of oats (I'm sure it was more than the serving size)
with lots of 1% milk. I love lots of milk in my cereal.
So far at work. I've eaten a few Almonds (lime and chili flavor) I would say about 3-4 almonds
1 pc of orange flavored dark chocolate
8 oz of coffee with 2 raw sugar and low fat milk (1/2 tbsp)
3 prunes

Ugh!!!! I didn't run this weekend. My body went into ultra lethargic mode. I mean it took quite a bit to motivate to do anything. My body literally felt heavy. I even took a nap on Saturday...a nap! I don't take naps.
Last night I set myself up to run this morning. I prepared my clothes in the living room so that i could be ready to get up and go...well nope that didn't happen. I woke up around 4am with the worst headache ever. I thought it was the 2 hard ciders I had last night but later realized that my sinuses were actually the culprits. I still have a mega headache will take tylenol in a bit. I have a walk this afternoon but i'm even tempted to ditch that. I am feeling sooooo bummed about how I feel.
In addition to my tiredness and now headache, I have really come to terms that I am just eating incorrectly. Yesterday I had a burger, fries, hard cider, and cake for dinner and dessert. And so far already I had a piece of dark chocolate. I do think I need to keep track of what I eat in addition to what I am doing. Thankfully so i can text my entries so that should make it easy to keep track of my food. So I am going to do that for at least a week. I need to prepare food the night before and I need to stick to it. I need to feel better about myself from the inside out.

Day 19
took some Mylanta this morning and did absolutely great!!! I feel great as a result. I ran at 6.0 for about 10 mins! WOW!
Burned 316 calories run/walking 2.78 for a total of 33 mins.
If it doesn't rain I will be joining the CU wellness program on a walk today. We will walk every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I am glad. It will motivate me to move more during work hours. I just wish the bag they gave me did come with a pedometer like it was suppose to. I was so bummed it didn't because I would like to keep track of how little I move when here.
Well lets hope for no rain until later today.

Day 18
Struggled again thanks to my stomach!!! Could it be acid reflux??? I have to get some Mylanta to take in the morning. I feel great and ready to run but my very top of my stomach hurts. I don't get it!
Well I did quite sadly, burned 268 calories run/walking 2.41 miles in 31:13 mins. I walked more than I wanted to but at least i did hit 6.0 mph. Will get mylanta and see how i do tomorrow morning after taking some maybe the night before?? hmmm...will find out.

Sunday morning work out. Burned 462 calories run/walking 4.29 miles in 54:18 minutes. Felt good at the end but struggled! Could I be in pain due to some type of acid reflux???

Day 16
Felt nauseous as I ran, probably since i ran in the afternoon and had food and water in my tummy. Was a pathetic run but i really wanted to run. I wanted to run a total of 4 miles but I walked a lot and then was in the process of getting kicked out of the gym.

Day 14
Today's work out. Burned 293 Calories run/walking a total of 2.65 miles in 34 mins. Felt like a weak workout. I am tired. I haven't slept well the past 2 nights. I do hope I sleep heavy today. I may need to do a walk during lunch and after work to wear myself out some more. I am tired I am getting myself some crack coffee downstairs at Orens.

Monday's Ran/Walk: Burned 369 Calories walking/running for 3.2 miles in 39 minutes. Walked much less. Walked for 5 mins then jogged for 5 more, ran 10 at 5.0 then another 10 at 5.5 and the last 5 minutes at 6.0. Felt good.
Later in the day I walked a heck of a lot with my parents. I have to find out exactly how much we walked cause it was bananas.
Friday I also walked alot with my mom. I think I will have to get myself to walk with my parents more often.

I had forgotten to send this on Friday. Here is how I did: Burned 295 calories running 2.55 miles in 32 mins.

Sunday run: Burned 468 calories running/walking 4.12 miles in 53 mins. Saturday I did not run as I cleaned all day long. I finally removed the graphite and charcoal powder from my floors...woooo hoooo!!! :)

Day 10
Six days later and 2nd run in 2 weeks...sad. I felt very lethargic but I managed to do this: Burned 281 Calories and ran 2.41 miles in 32 minutes. I have 3 weeks until the Corporate Challange. Thank goodness my co-worker may be encouraging me to do runs after work...lets see if we actually go through with it.
From this point on I need to run every day and get up my stamina to a consistant 3 mile run.

Day 9
wow what 4 days of no exercise will do to you. Pretty pathetic. Here is how I did: burned 372 calories, ran 3.6 miles in 51:10 minutes. I ran and walked most of it, meaning I would start running take a break to drink water and I just couldn't continue to run. I had to walk and then get up to a jog again. I did run so fast either. Oh geez, the semi-not-so-motivated me is poking through. Well there is always tomorrow

4 days and no gym...
My last work out was on Saturday morning and since then I have not gotten any exercise. Boo hooo!!! Sunday I was busy with finalizing the bachellorette fun and after a good shower I headed over to hang out with my mom. In the evening I should have worked on my school project but instead I just chilled with my bf.
I told myself i would get a work out in on Monday and especially a long run but I was on a roll with my school project that I never left until I had to go to school. I worked until late on my project on Monday that Tuesday i definitely was not getting up for the gym and it hasn't helped that I have been in pain. My lower back, my right hip and especially my right thigh. What is going on?!?! I have no idea why I would be in this particular pain. NO idea what so ever. :(
Last night into this morning I was recovering from losing sleep Monday night so I didn't make it in. I feel less pain in my leg so I think at this point I have no excuse for not hitting the gym tomorrow. It sucks but at this rate I have to make it in Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Ideally I will be able to have long runs on Friday, Sat and Sun. So that will be nice. I hope that after being away this many days I can pick up where I left off.
We'll see.

Day 8
I should have gotten out so much earlier than I did. The gym was absolutely booked at 10:30 am. Had I gotten there a little before 9:30 am I would have fine. Oh well so I did a bunch of different things. I ran 11 mins then was kicked off the treadmill because someone had reserved the machine. I then did the eliptical for about 20 mins and as soon as the machine I reserved became available I jumped on the treadmill and this is what I recorded. Burned 296 calories, ran 2.62 miles for 30 mins.
Since I was all warmed up I ran at 5.0 and 5.5 and even 6.0. It felt great! I do enjoy running but unfortunately just stopped doing it. Yay I got a run in before the crazy weekend is upon me.

Got out to the gym before working on my project and this is how i did. 497 Calories 4.39 miles 55 minutes
I felt good running that much! I truly enjoyed it and I wish I could get these kind of runs in more often! The next few days will be tricky with the bachellorette party/sleepover, mommy time, and school project time. Let's see how I do.

Day 6
So big mistake eating a god-knows-how-big piece of Filet Mignon last night. I knew it a bad idea while i was eating it and I knew i was going to know it some more the next day especially in the morning when I had to get up and go to the gym. Fortunately, I don't think it affect me as much as i thought it would but then again I did modify my run. I ran slower today. I rather ease up on myself instead of sticking to my plan and feeling completely defeated because I wasn't able to do as well as I had planned to. And it worked. I did 10 mins at 4.0, then 10 at 4.5 and 10 more at 5.0. Not bad though not the plan i wanted to keep to for the next week at least, ah well there is always tomorrow and the rest of the week for that. I just know I won't be eating that much meat anytime soon.
So summary of the work out. I burned 274 Calories and ran/walked 2.49 miles in 34:00 minutes. I think I will keep it light today food-wise. i am looking forward to tomorrow and Saturday and doing longer runs. Yay...
One thing though... my right hip is hurting some. I feel pain on my right side. It isn't so bad when I run, actually I don't feel anything then, but I do feel it afterward when i am on the train and then I really feel it at night right before I go to bed....I may have to get myself checked out. This is not good and I don't want this pain to be the reason i stop exercising again. So much for feeling the good kind of aches...this one is not so good.

No gym this morning
So I guess my body cannot get use to 2 days of exercise in a row. I was so tired last night and this morning. Then again besides the gym I did work on my school project which always wears me out. I'm such a weakling! Tomorrow I will be back at the gym and if I actually get Friday off which I think I am, I will be at the gym and I will run/walk a whole 3 miles! Then Sat again as well since I'm giving myself Sunday off so must make it in on Saturday.
I think I'll be in good shape by the time the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge comes around on Thursday June 17. How exciting?!

Day 5
This morning burned 300 calories and ran/walked 2.65 miles in 33 minutes. I did 5 mins at 4.0 then 5 mins at 4.5 then 10 at 5.0 and another 10 at 5.5. I didn't think I was going to make it but I did! I was so tempted to stay in bed but I got on up and went. Then of course I pushed myself today running 10 mins at 5.5. I will keep this plan for the next few days until i feel comfortable doing it.
I feel good and I think I'm even showing it. My outfits are looking a little more put together that I am getting compliments...the change that a little exercise can do. Awesome.
Today the comments were "so trying to shape up cause it is summer"..."running because you have a run in a month"...but quite honestly those are things that remain in the back of my head. I won't deny that they are motivating factors but they are really not the main reasons for doing what I am doing. I want to feel good about myself, not how I look or what I can do, but just feel good. I have been feeling pretty crappy and in just a few days of getting up and going to the gym I feel so much better already. That is what I want. Yes i will possibly look better than what I have been looking and perfectly so just as the weather is warming up and I begin to wear slightly less clothes and yes I will be able to run the whole race in June but those are the additions to the fact that I am starting to feel good. The aches are good aches not aches from sitting all day....yay!
I do really have to get my entry on the advantages of this shape-up going...maybe I'll start it and leave it in draft until it is finalized.

Day 4
Though I was still tired and recuperating from life yesterday I actually made it to the gym today. I thought i was going to really struggle but the biggest struggle was getting out of my comfy warm bed. I am still tired today but my body feels strong which is excellent.
Stats for today: burned 272 calories. Ran/walked for 32:13 mins for a total of 2.46 miles. I started off with my speed walking at 4.0 I think I did about 7 mins; then jog at 4.5 for about 5-6 mins; then jogged at 5.0 for about 10 mins and at 5.5 for about 5 mins. Not 100% sure of the breakdown but glad i got at least 30 mins in today. I need to get myself and on a treadmill at 6am on the dot.
Well I get the feeling that today will be a struggle. I do have my crack coffee next to me at this moment so hopefully that will keep me up and going.

Life
I was dressed and ready to head out to the gym and then life happened to get in the way...life always has a way of disrupting my plans. I am not going to let it unmotivate me, tomorrow morning I'll get myself to the gym again. 4-6 times a week is what my goal is. I still have Monday - Saturday.

Day 3
So I didn't get up yesterday to work out. I was way too exhausted. I guess waking up two times in a row was enough to do it to me. I just came back from the gym and i feel great. I woke up feeling good then went to feeling shitty thanks to my period, the kind of life i have these days, and what I am not looking forward to. That is a story for a whole other blog.
I ran/jogged today for 42 mins. A total of 3.27 miles and burning off 364 calories. I walked for 10 mins at a 4 incline at 4.0 mph (15 min mile), then lowered the incline and did 10 mins at 4.5, another 10 at 5.0 (12 min miile) and last 5 mins at 5.5. Yup I did 5.5 today and was able to. The hardest part I find is the first 10 mins. I am not a good speed walker. It is actually a bit painful and I struggle, I look forward to jogging. I guess it makes the jogging part feel so much easier which is a good thing to go for.
I am disappointed because I really wish i could dedicate more time to this blog just so that i can jot down my ideas. I still want to do a motivation board with joggers and models with beautiful bodies and clear skin. I also want to jot down all the advantages to this shape up. I could do it now, but i have to really jump into the bathroom so i can head out to Jersey to see my grandma with my parents. Maybe I can do it later.

Day 2
After a semi- cinco de mayo celebration, I didn't think I would care to work out the next morning, however, i did get up and go to the gym. At this moment i am beyond sleepy but i just wanted to log-on and write down my thoughts....maybe I'll just save them for tomorrow. I really want to write down the advantages to working out besides shaping up...yeah I'll do that tomorrow. I really want to just shut my computer and fall asleep.
So synopsis of my day: I ate healthy. Had some chocolate but nothing crazy as I can do.
I worked out for 32 mins on the treadmill.
10 mins at 15
10 mins at 13.19
10 mins at 12
burned 266 calories; walked/ran 2.38 miles.
Eventually I will be running all 2.38 miles...but baby steps.

Shaping up
I have decided I will maintain a journal my new journey. I am trying to motivate myself to shape up because quite frankly I feel so out of it. I once motivated myself to lose about 50 lbs, going from about 175 to about 125 lbs. I use the term "about" because by the time I first weighed myself I had already began a fitness program, so I wouldn't be surprised if I was slightly heavier than 175lbs at some point in my life and I say about 125 lbs because for a brief time in my life i did get as far down as 124 lbs...but I would say I held at that weight for maybe 1-2 weeks before I began to even out.
Lately I can barely run 2 miles, I get winded from going up stairs, walking to the train, etc, etc. I have even felt light-headed from just getting up from my chair! Not good and I don't feel good.
So I am about 138 lbs now, I will weigh myself sometime this week to get a good starting point, and I mainly would like to shape up and feel good. I know I will lose some weight along the way which will be a great positive but my main goal is to feel energetic again and to have that "can-do" attitude again.
Yesterday I went for a walk during the day. Today I went to the gym in the morning. I walked/jogged for 30 mins (walked 11 mins at about 15 miles/min pace 4.0 at incline of 4, then 11 mins at 13.19 miles/min pace 4.5 at incline of at least 1, and last 8 mins at 12 miles/min pace-5.0, no incline). Total calories burned 259 and total of 2.37 miles.
I feel like I am starting somewhat at basics again but I am extremely happy I was able to jog for about 20 mins.
The plan is to go to the gym in the morning any where from 4-7 days a week and to be able to run 3 miles as effortlessly as possible.
My goals:
