extreme running

I seem to have deleted my post somehow so here goes attempt 2.
Normally this wouldn't be extreme running. Normally someone would not take on a 15K with out properly preparing. Well there is nothing normal about attempting this 15K tomorrow. I have done 2 long runs, one 6 miler in November and one 8 miler this past Monday. That is not good. I haven't been running more than 1-2 times a week and I haven't seen the inside of the gym in the past 2 months. Wow what happened?!?!
I attempted the 8 miler on Monday because I wanted to see how bad I would feel and how bad of a job I would do on Saturday. Well the happy news is I can complete it. The not so happy news is I will have to run it anywhere from a 10:30 to 11 min/mile pace and I will be hurting afterwards for about a day. I recovered well so I'm not too worried about the pain. I know I could have done it so much better, meaning at a better pace but it will have to do.
My goal after this run will be to get back into a routine. I want to train for a half marathon with Goober. I want to push her mileage-wise but the good thing about it will be that I can take it easy speed-wise. I have to come up with a plan ASAP so that come Monday I am on a plan and no slacking this time!!!
Wish me luck.

Morning 4 miler

So I got up and was a bit excited about running. Well at first I snoozed my alarm and crawled back into bed....but I was awake so I got up and got ready. I knew it was going to be a good "short" and semi-easy run since I was running with Goober. I am so proud of her. I know mornings aren't her preference but she did great! I hope she does sign up for a half marathon with me next year. :)

I digressed...I got up, got dressed and headed out. Started with a walk to give the Garmin some time to pick up the satellite. Once it picked it up, we were off. It was slow at first but I welcomed it. It has been a long time since I have done a run in the morning that I was happy to not be out there trying to beat myself up. It was dark and very quiet in the park and I was so not looking forward to running it back on my own but I survived. I didn't like that the lights were off at one point during my run back but oh well.

So we did a little over 2 miles out in about 30 minutes that I took off on the way back because I knew I would be late to get ready and therefore late to work (what else is new). The run back was more intense and it felt great that I warmed up the first 2 miles. I cannot wait to load up my results to see the difference between the run to Woodhaven versus the trip back. I will definitely be doing this again. I hope she is up for it on Thursday morning though it would have to be earlier and we have a late night the night before. Well we shall see.

I'm a bit nervous about the 15K but I know I can make it. I am not breaking any records but i am definitely going to make it. :)

Run for my car

Am I warm enough?? Actually I was too warm because my hat, and gloves came off and I unzipped the jacket a few times and rolled up my sleeves.

I decided to run to Goober's house since my car was parked over there. I needed to get it eventually so why not go for a run over that way. It wasn't a bad run. It was a night run and I was alone but the nice thing is that the street is pretty lit and semi populated if not by walkers, mostly dog walkers, definitely by passing cars. I felt safe enough to run it again. It wasn't a fast run but it was a run! It was almost 2.5 miles. Yay to picking up the mileage again!
